Foundation for Mitochondrial Medicine

The Foundation for Mitochondrial Medicine is the nonprofit powerhouse dedicated to treatments and a cure for mitochondrial disease. Simply put, our mission is to hasten development of effective treatments for mitochondrial disease.

We support and augment funding of medical research studies approved by the Food and Drug Administration and/or Institutional Review Boards, which result in treatments that directly benefit affected patients.

• FMM is the first mitochondrial disease-focused non-profit organization to financially support the first FDA approved drug treatments that will begin this year.
• FMM's Board Member, Dr. John Shoffner, was recognized by Autism Speaks as one of the Top 10 Research Achievers of 2009, linking mitochondrial disease and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
